Linda Cristal

Highly acclaimed for her talent and unmatched beauty, Linda has performed in over forty movies and TV shows. Born in Argentina, her career began in Mexico. At the age of 18 her inability to speak English did not stop her from winning a seven-year contract with United Artists along with her debut American movie role in Comanche with Dana Andrews. In 1958 she won a Golden Globe Award for New Female Star of the Year.

Retiring from the business to raise her two sons, it took John Wayne to convince her to come back in his movie The Alamo. Linda's other popular movies include Two Rode Together with James Stewart, Mr. Majestyk with Charles Bronson, Cry Tough with John Saxon and The Perfect Furlough with Tony Curtis. TV roles include Bonanza, Rawhide, General Hospital, Barnaby Jones, Fantasy Island, The Love Boat. In 1985 Linda returned to Argentina to star in the soap opera, Rosse´.

Linda is most famous for her starring role as Victoria Cannon on the TV series The High Chaparral, which she won by improvising her audition for producer David Dortort. For her outstanding performance as the strong-willed, courageous wife who works side by side with her husband to create a life in the Arizona Territory of the 1870s, Linda received a Golden Globe award in 1970. She was nominated twice for an Emmy Award and again for a Golden Globe Award in 1971 for this pivotal role.

She has made movies all over the world - Italy, France, Spain, Yugoslavia, Egypt, Greece, Mexico and the US and remains popular today for her outstanding performances.
